Hello colleagues and students! π Today, I want to spark a conversation about our roots: why did we choose Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) as our course of study? Iβll kick things off by sharing my own journey, and then Iβd love to read yours in the comments.
When I graduated from secondary school at the early age of 17, I honestly had no clear idea what I wanted to study at the university. π€·ββοΈ I was completely undecided until I had a few pivotal conversations with my Dad who is a Medical Doctor. π©Ί
He strongly encouraged me to go for Medical Laboratory Science, and his reasoning was incredibly practical. He explained that in the hospital where he worked at the time, the laboratory department was a major engine for generating income for the facility. π₯ He planted a seed in my mind: if I followed this path, I would not only secure a great clinical career, but I would also have the potential to one day establish and run my very own private laboratory. π‘
That vision of entrepreneurship blended with healthcare was exactly the push I needed, and it is the reason I proudly took the path into this wonderful profession. β¨
Now, it's your turn! I would absolutely love to hear your reasons. What drew you to the lab? π©Έ Leave your story in the comment section below so we can discuss. π
Until my next post, sai anjima! βοΈ
